Cracked Glass Snow Globe

Materials

10 glass jars with lids (preferably mason jars or similar)
1 lb of clear glass beads
1 hammer
1 towel or cloth
Glue (waterproof recommended)
Distilled water
1/2 cup of glycerin
Glitter (preferably white or silver)
Small waterproof figurines or objects
Optional: Food coloring

Directions

Place the towel on a hard surface and cover the glass beads with another layer of towel to prevent shards from scattering.

Carefully smash the glass beads with the hammer until they are cracked but not shattered into small pieces.

Rinse the cracked beads to remove any dust or small particles.

Glue a small figurine to the inside of each jar lid and let it dry completely.

Fill each jar with distilled water, leaving about an inch of space from the top.

Add a teaspoon of glitter to each jar for the snow effect.

Mix in a tablespoon of glycerin to each jar to help the glitter float.

Optional: Add a few drops of food coloring if you desire a tinted look.

Carefully add the cracked glass beads to each jar.

Screw the lid with the attached figurine onto each jar tightly.

Turn the jar upside down to create the snow globe effect and ensure it doesn’t leak.

Variations & Tips

For a personalized touch, try using different shapes and sizes of jars to create a diverse collection. You can also experiment with different figurines to match specific themes or seasonal motifs, such as using small Christmas trees for the holiday season. If you prefer a more colorful display, use colored glass beads or add a few drops of food coloring to the water for a tinted snow globe. To make them more festive, consider tying a decorative ribbon around the base of the jar lid.
